Any one in Britain know what will kill cockroaches.sencible answers only please ?.?

We have only seen one but there are proberbly others around,there is construction works going on at the back of our house so it looks like the whole bloody eco systems moving in for winter.

boric acid will kill the buggers. it gets spread about and they walk over it and it is brought back to the nest. not only does it burn their little nasty legs off, but, it gets into their food at the nest site and poisons them so that the cannot procreate. i must have brought one home from the store in a paper bag and the buggers had a field day. what a misery. if you see more, i suggest you by a bug bomb. follow directions and be sure to rinse everything after wards. a friend of mine had them overrun his place, even in the fridge and stove. i would die of disgust. yuk. he bombed twice. they are gone.
