How can you get rid of bugs from your swimming pool?

My friends sister has a swimming pool with what she says looks like nats. They are very, very tiny. She said they sting. She doesn't know how to get rid of them or what the bugs are called. Help!

Answers:
You don't say whether they are living in the water or just buzzing around it. If they are in the water there is a product called "Bug Off" that releases the surface tension so the bugs sink and drown. It's hard to find but it works. If they are buzzing around then you are pretty much stuck. Swimming after dark with a light on in a different area might draw them away. But daytime swimming is a different story. I've never encountered anything like this in 35 years dealing with pool problems.

They are in the water of the pool? Or flying around it? The chlorine in the water should kill any bug. We also have a pool and we have a few lights on away from the pool, that way the bugs are attracted to the light---away from us.
