how often should i water my peace lillie and do they need direct sunlight?
Answers:
You should always keep the soil moist, so it depends on your home environment. They love hot moist environments. Once a month I put mine in the shower and give it a "bath" - not a lot of water though. Then I let it sit - with the door closed - and absorb some steam. They should not be in direct sunlight. I use diffused light and occasionally brief periods of direct sunlight - mine has been growing very well for 8 years. Hope this helps.

Peace lilies like indirect light. Direct light will cause them to droop, as not enough water will, also. Bright, but not direct. They'll settle for shade, too.but do best in indirect light. I water mine once weekly, & I use a very diluted fertilizer in the water. I go heavier in both Spring & Fall.
When they bloom, the flower will have a stamen inside that will drop pollen on the lower leaves. If you take a pair of scissors & gently clip this stamen off but without cutting anything else, it'll keep your plant clean & healthy.
You can clean the leaves with an old, clean washcloth dipped in milk. This will keep the leaves clean & shiny. Enjoy!

I'm not a green thumb, but my florist gave me the following advice for a peace lily:
They will grow in indirect light, but they bloom best in bright light. I have mine at a southern window.
Additionally, I water thoroughly whenever it droops. The florist told me that's how it asks for water.
So far, I'm doing great. My lily has six blooms, and all kinds of new leaves.
