Talk to her/him. That's the only way to fix things. Tell them that you miss them and talk it over.

Depending on what has gone down with the two of you you may never get this friend back but on the other hand if whatever happen was not so bad then this person needs to get on with it and grow up...Two sides to every story.

Write a letter, that way you won't leaving anything out and she/he can't cut you off when you are speaking. Don't forget to say why you always liked being friends with him/her.
