Need to buy ethanol for American cooking stove. Where can I buy it in UK and who licenses its sale.?

Pharmacists (chemists) stock ethanol in small quantities. However, it is expensive and as it is sought after by drug addicts you will be hard pushed to obtain some.
Methylated spirit is readily available at any hardware store and should work equally well in your cooking stove.

I'd be surprised if you could by ethanol "over the counter" anywhere in the UK. It's quite a hazardous fluid. I'm quite surprised that any stove- even an american one- would require ethanol.
Ethanol is comonly use for emergency starting of large diesel engines. If you check the cans in Halfords or whatever, I think you'll find that some of theses starting sprays contain ethanol. But ethanol should never be brought near a naked flame, that's for sure.
