I locked my bedroom door with all of my keys in it. How do I get in?
Answers:
Try the credit card trick and push it open...that's the only way I know...otherwise try picking the lock with a bobby pin
Other answers:
break down the door or take off the hinges
break down the door or take off the hinges
Knock down some drywall.
if the screws for the door handle are on the outside then remove the handle and you should be able to get in
unscrew the handle. or slide a credit card into the space where the lock is and jimmy it. or just break the door and go buy a new one.
If it's a privacy lock (not a key lock) there should be a hole in the center you can put a pin in to release.
Why would you need a lock on your door? That maybe a fire hazard.
A locksmith can pick that low-security privacy lock on the door in a matter of minutes. Give one a call. they do house calls. That would be much cheaper than repairing gyprock.
Dan.
Try the credit card or butter knife method first, then call a locksmith.
If it is like most interior doors, there is a small hole in the center of the outer door knob, stick a tooth pick or similar sized object in the hole, with a little pressure, it should unlock the door.
If not, see your other answers for more options.
Since when does a bedroom door have a lock that requires keys?
Also, in my experience, bedroom doors lock from the inside --- with you inside.
If your bedroom door locks by pushing in a button and this button was accidentally pushed as you closed the door upon leaving, then there should be a hole in the plate holding the knob in place. Get a flat head screwdriver that is narrow enough to fit in the hole. Turn the screwdriver until you hear the click as the lock releases.
Any windows on premise?
Several ways to do it so lets try the easiest first. Depends on what kind of door and how it is hung. Look at the knob and see if it has a hole on your side in the middle of it. If so, get a nail or something you can stick in the hole and it will release the lock. If that does not work or no hole, look at the knob how it is put together. Some will have an oblong hole with the locking mechanism for the knob to stay on where you can see it so you can press that piece in and take the knob off the door, take the insides off and you can get in that way. If that is not good and the door is hung so you can get to the hinges, somply take out the hinge pins and the door will be easy to push open that way. Sometimes you can take a knife or something thin and stiff and slide in to the main pin and open it that way as you see in movies. If all else fails, get someone that knows about locks and /or doors and get them to help you. No need to demolish the door as there will be some way to get in but just needs someone that will know what to look for. Hope this helps.
Usually those locks can be picked with a very small screwdriver.
If it's a keyless door lock, there's a small hole in the center of the door lock. get a stiff wire like a paper clip and push in dirctly into the center while pulling gently on the knob. Good luck
