Both answers are correct if you question was how do I get fleas from my pets. These answers will NOT get fleas from your house. You need to treat your home at the same time you treat your pets, but w/different products. You can use "Front Line" or "Advantage" on your pets (although you may not get instant results) but you will also have to purchase a fogger (spray can) for your home. Purchase enough to treat the sq/ft in your home. Set the foggers and leave, WITH YOUR PETS. As previously mentioned, fogging will kill the fleas currently in your home, but you will also have to retreat your house in a couple of weeks. The eggs that are in your home, (and sweeping is like changing seats on the Titanic. Your still going down) will survive the fogger and hatch in a couple weeks. (Check the label on the product you purchase). I do not think the fleas that hatch from these eggs will just "go away" as previously suggested, but will reinfest your home and maybe your pets w/o the second treatment.
There are some foggers that claim to also destroy the eggs but people that I have talked to have not have any luck w/this.
I know this sucks, but you'll get through it and you will be able to reclaim your home. You will learn that this is one of those times that an ounce of prevention..oh well, you all ready know that now!

okay treat your animals with a flea medicine sorry can't remember the name but it comes in small tubes and you put it on their back. it will take a few days but this will get rid of them. the fleas need the animals to live now some of the eggs will hatch and still bother you at first but they will soon be gone as well.

Get flea collars on your pets (97 cents at Walmart) first.
If you have used flea powders and sprays with no success, get the spray for lice, wash everything washable in your home, spray the beds, couch, and carpets, and plastic bag everything that you cannot wash--don't open bag for at least 2 weeks!
Go to Walmart and buy Borax (20 mule team) from the laundry section.. it's a couple bucks a box. It will probably take a couple of boxes depending on how big your house is. Sweep your house well, be sure to change the bag or empty it if bagless otherwise it won't do any good. Take a sieve or just sprinkle the borax liberally on the carpets, brush in with a broom, let it sit for 15-30 minutes then vacuum up, be sure to empty/change the bag again. It will take a few days, but it'll get rid of the fleas and you should be good to go for at least 6 months. You might want to retreat in a week or so if the fleas are really bad and you'll need to treat the animals as well, just dust them liberally and work the borax into the hair well, avoid getting it in the eyes. It is very important to empty/change the vacuum. If you don't the eggs you've swept up will hatch and re-populate the house again, defeating everything you've done.
