Deet - they make a safe Deet in a spray bottle now ... I can't remember the name of it but it's in a green bottle!

Horseflys and deerflys are attracted to movement. The more you try to shoo them away the more they will bother you. I have horses and use Cutter and Sportsman's OFF. Both have a high concentration of DEET so if you use it on children be carefull. You can get pure DEET made by OFF at your local walmart. Good Luck, those buggers hurt when they bite........
