Green tomatoes?
what can we do with them to make them go red.
Answers:
Keep them in the dark, in a cool, dry place, and most should pink up soon ( tomatoes ripen in the dark, not in the sunshine!) You could sell them as green tomatoes; folks around the south LOVE fried green tomatoes! (I don't know where you are from, but it is a popular dish) Or you could make green-tomato chow chow to use some up. Good luck, and happy gardening!
Other answers:
put them somewhere dry and fairly warm

Have you ever tried slicing the green ones, rolling them in flour and frying them in oil. Very good. If you want them to turn red sit them out in the sun.
Put them in a brown paper bag close, leave inside for a day or 2 however long it takes till they turn red! Or why dont you just make fried green tomatoes! yummmy!
I think you're supposed to keep them in a dark place.. cool and not damp.
Paper bags...or just let sit on a table or window sill...we have the same problem...they just dont seem to want to ripen........Good luck
Yup, brown paper bag will work the best....also agree that you should make some fried green tomatoes.yum
Set them aside in a window or just in a place that will get some good air circulation and they will turn eventually. Otherwise, if you want you can make some green tomato pies, or fried green tomatoes too. Any of the three are very good.
I have had success with ripening tomato's in the window. You do have to turn them daily and be careful of what you set them on due to their being acidic.
Although I always have to fry acouple of green ones!☺
put them in the sun to turn them red...but slice a few up and fry them, their awesome!
Leave them out in a warm room, eg a conservetary. And place them next to the window and leave for a while but check on them everyday.
OMG there is nothing better than fried green tomatos!!
I dunno how u can make them red but u can fry them! It's very good trust me and u might wanna put salt on them so they won't be so dry...trust me....but they r good fried...
Put them in the window but don't let the get too hot. Next time just support the plant and let them turn on the vine! :-)
It works well to put them in a brown paper bag in a cool dry place, but it seems to me you have to put an apple in the bag with them.
Brace up your plants.....thats why they call them tomato cages. The only thing to do after picking is to set out and let them ripen.
Why not make green tom chuntney with them there are plenty of recipies on the net
Get some red tomatoes, or ripening tomatoes, and spread them evenly through the green tomatoes on a window ledge or on wooden trays. They will also ripen when stored in the dark. The gasses given off by the red tomatoes start the ripening process in the green tomatoes. Alternatively get a good chutney recipe book!
FRIED GREEN TOMATOES
make some green tomato chutney, great recipe in River cottage cook book for this, its delicious
You can put them on a sunny window sill, or you can put them in a drawer with a ripe tomato. Dont ask me why but this works.
