Who would I call to have an above ground pool removed? I live in a NW suburb of Chicago, Il.?
Answers:
Call your local fire department. A lot of times they can send a pumper truck that will drain it. They use this water for training and such. Once you can get it drained, you should be able to disassemble and remove yourself. If you rent a dumpster for a week, you can dispose of all the mess and have it hauled away. Just be sure to check on your city/locality ordinances. Call your locality office/township..you may need special permits and they may require certain disposal steps. You cannot just drain water into your yard, it can contaminate the ground water. It must be drained. My parents have done it with a large hose dropped into the drain in the basement. It took a really long time to drain. Also, a pool demolition company can probably assist, but it will be costly. After it's gone, don't forget to call your home owners insurance...your premium will probably go down. If your looking for an equity loan, you'll need to have a new appraisal after landscaping repairs!

call a large plumbing construction compnay. it wud cost around 5,000. its an expensive process. Pipes must be fixed to prevent flooding which cud lead to erosion and a sink hole. Also the cement structure has to be demolished and cleared up, with the hole filled. What you can also do is call your local fire department. Why pay to have it taken out, if the sides are still in good shape and the liner is still good, advertise it for free in the newspaper, you can syphon out the yucky water,,,,Just advertise: Free above ground pool, you tear down and remove...you may be able to make a few bucks on it. It is worth a try and you won't have to pay anyone to haul it away...just try to clean up the liner the best you can, if anyone wants it bad enough they will spring for a new liner depending on size anywhere from $300. and up for a liner.
They have probably spread sand under the pool to level it so you will have to clean that up if someone takes the pool.
Good Luck
Put an ad in a local paper. Someone will come and take it down for free if you give it to them.
If I were you I would want to use the pool to teach my kids to swim. This could save their lives instead of trying to shelter them from the water that could kill them. Swimming is a lifelong skill that is extremely beneficial.
Just fish out the leaves, throw in some shock and get the filter running. In 2 days you should see drastic improvement in the water.
Otherwise, call your local scrap guy. Metal prices are high right now.
