Make sure every space in your fridge/freezers is completely full. Freeze bottles of water in excess space. Go through your house with a caulk gun, redo all windows and exterior door jams, this will help on cooling/heating. Is your attic insulated well? Make sure. Switch bulbs to energy efficient ones. Do you live in a cell coverage area? Sometimes this is cheaper than regular phone service. Check the rates on Satellite v/s cable. If you have Internet evaluate your usage time, you may want to switch from high speed to a more affordable dial up if you are not on very often. Check your water pipes for leaking or dripping, this will make water bills go up. Remember those frozen bottles of water in the freezer? If you take one out to put in food, let it melt and water plants with it. Check on lowering your rate on home and car by refinancing, many companies will try to work with you so that they do not loose your loan, if you have paid every month on time since the first payment date, you should be right on target to refinance. Don't cut up credit cards! If you close an account that you have had a long time and paid well on..you loose the good credit you have obtained. This could make your credit scores go down! Pay on them every month and try to pay more than the bare minimum...this will reflect well on your credit. Anything you buy, divide it by the amount of money you make per hour. DON'T SPEND TO MUCH MONEY.
Ok, this might sound stupid, but, I have been saving ALL of the coin that I get in my wallet at the end of each day. Seperate them all into different containers, and everyday, when you get home, take ALL the change you have and put it away into your jars. I just saved about $2000 in just over 6 months doing this and went on a trip. It's so cool because you don't even realize that you are putting that much money away!

dont buy dumb sh***
IF you can arrange it - have a portion of your paycheck directly deposited into a different account than what you use day by day.then set up your budget based on the remander. After a few paychecks you won't miss it.
Also - keep track of the things like fancy cofees from starbucks - soda's etc. etc. Those can eat up $$ fast!

Cut up the credit cards expect one to be use for emergency only and budget your cash money very carefully . Remember buy what you need not what you want .
What I have been doing is using coupons when I shop and then when I get home I look at my receipt and see how much I saved with my coupons and put half of my coupon savings in the change jar on my dresser. Then when I want to do something I have this "extra" money, also I found that stocking up on at snacks at the grocery store and leaving them in my desk is MUCH cheaper than hitting the vending machines at work.

figure a sum to be spent every day and a constant sum to pay the bills. if the bill is larger, you will have to pay the rest from your pocket money. if you spend more on yourself, you will have less money in your wallet for the next days. if you save, then you can treat yourself (this way you will soon find out the uneven and variable proportion of money spent and pleasure/use gained for it- sometimes little money make you a great day, sometimes a large sum goes away from you and it was not worth it so if you CAN avoid doing the same, next time, you will avoid it. for example expensive meal - inexpensive meal and the difference in taste of both)
if unexpected inevitable expenses occur, you will have to restrain yourself
most can be saved on food - and not than you should starve or compromise your health or eat without enjoying it, only you have to do some thinking
