bad smell in freezer?
Answers:
I'm not sure about the food, but here was you can do about the smell: Clean out the freezer and wipe it down with some mild soap. Wipe again with a rag with water. Finally wipe down the inside with vanilla extract. Your freezer with then have a nice pleasant aroma. Then put in a box of Arm & Hammer baking soda to absorb any future nasty smells (change the box about every three months)
Other answers:
Clean it with Baking Soda and leave a box of it open in there to get rid of the smell.
Clean it with Baking Soda and leave a box of it open in there to get rid of the smell.
An open box of baking soda usually helps a lot.
Try putting a bowl of vinegar in there--that will usually absorb most odors. I'm not sure if I would eat the food in there...it may have some kind of bacteria.
Use a big box of open baking soda in there.
Clean it out and put in a box of baking soda.
Depends on what the smell is! Have you tried putting baking soda in there to clear it up? How long has the smell been in there....Is it like a rotten food smell? Musty smell?
i would get rid of any meat you may have froze something that was almost rotten by accident happens a lot with chicken
I would defrost the freezer manually, and wash it thoroughly with soap and water. When re-freezing, maybe put one of those fridge boxes of baking soda in there to absorb smells. The food in there should be okay to eat, as long as it is packaged.
baking soda. maybe some food has gone bad? it the food smells ok i'd eat it.
Try to take everything out and clean the freezer good and keep a box of baking soda in it. I wouldn't eat the food if I was you.
Make sure the smell is not coming from down in the fridge part clean out your freezer real good and use a new box of baking soda.
no! i dont feel so! dont eat it! try cleaning ur freezer n get other food to eat coz it can coz many problems sucjh as foodpoison n many other problems too!NOTE: DONT EAT THE FOOD!OK!
Take all of the food in the freezer out and inspect it for date and smell. Wipe out the freezer with some type of cleaner like ammonia. Then open up a box of baking soda and only put the good stuff back in the freezerl.
Leave open box of Baking Soda in there. yes food is ok to eat because it is packaged.
They are both right... but also thing about using vinegar... it nutralizes the amonia that cools you refer.
check for foods that have expired. packaged foods will have an expiration date, and anything you pacaged and put in there should not stay in for more than 3-6 months. if you can't remember what it is or when you put it in there, throw it out.
after you've done that, take everything that's left out of the freezer. take a sponge or rag with HOT water and bleach or other household cleaner (lysol cleaner works well) and wipe down the entire inside of the freezer. then go back over with warm water and then again with a dry rag to pick up any extra water and/or cleaner that might be left.
you can put everything back into the freezer at this point ... and go to the grocery and get a box of baking soda. arm and hammer (the orange box) has one you can buy where the side panels come off, which is handy. if not, just open up the top of the box and put the entirte box of soda far back into the freezer. this will prevent new odors.
you should clean out the freezer every 3 or so months, getting rid of old stuff as you go along and replace the baking soda.
I would clean the whole thing out . You might find the item that is making it smell.
Baking soda is a good absorber of smells. You can try some charcoal as well , this is a good absorber as well
As for the food, if you are not sure about it, throw it away
this is common problem i often have this sometimes! all you need to do is clean out the freezer, wash it out, buy a small box of "arm n hamer" fridge and freezer fresh baking soda stuff from your local grocery store, put it in the freezer and let stand for an hour ot two... then... leaving the box in there, check all you food to make sure its still healthy and fresh to eat, then just put it back in there! i know this is a lot of work just for getting rid of a bad oder but it sure works and i dont know any other way! thanks, -Shannon
open box of baking soda...works well
