How do you prevent a bee sting?
Answers:
i have gotten quite a few e mails lately that said that the us postal service was telling its carriers to put a bounce fabric softener sheet in their pocket and that it would repel bees. People also said they were using them when doing yard work and stuff like that. they said it really works.
I know how she feels though. last week I was minding my own business walking thru the yard and it felt like somebody thru a 5 lb rock and hit me on the side of the face right beside my ear.l It was the biggest yellow jacket I have ever seen. about the size of a bumble bee.. My neighbor said they were killer bees. I have never had a bee sting hurt so bad. Sometimes you can't do anything to make them not sting you. As far as the comment from the person who said you had to show them who is boss and swat at them. that just make them mad and then they really go after you.

Bee experts believe that the Africanized honey bee is here to stay. Studies show that as the regular honey bees and the Africanized bees interbreed, the Africanized strain appears to be dominant. So, the movement of Africanized honey bees into Arizona constitutes a permanent change in our state's environment.

never have anything sweet on or in your hand..not pop no candy no ice cream no perfume on and try some off spray. Bees are attracted to sweet smells.
Sometimes there is nothing you can do to prevent a sting from happening. By the sounds of it, your daughter was just unlucky enough to be one of those people that does things right and still gets stung.
That was one pesky bee, usually they will just fly away.
Don't show your fear or you could cause a phobia. Down play it and you will not make a huge deal out of it and freak her out. Staying inside is not an option.
To prevent a bee sting, you have to show the bee who's boss. Swat at, try to shoo it away. The sting was probably by accident anyway. Would you want to kill yourself just to annoy someone? Bee's hardly ever sting on purpose. Shooing them away will make them get out of your space, decreasing likely hood of accidental stings.
Dress in colors that flowers don't come in. Dressing in yellow is a sure way to get a bee interested in you. Try a dark brown color.
Bees are most likely to sting if they get caught in a fold of clothing, or trapped between your body and your arm... some physical discomfort. If you know bees are going to be where you plan to go, wash your clothes in baking soda to eliminate all perfumes. If they land on you, don't squash them, fan them away.
If you do get stung, don't pluck the stinger off... the stinger will keep pumping poison as long as it is in your skin, so quickly SCRAPE it off sideways, with a credit card or fingernail.
Make sure you are not using any perfume, remember it can also be in your bath products.
