Have they been fertilised, and are they getting enough water? Cukes are really thirsty.

Cucumbers like a coolish moist atmosphere, and plenty of fertiliser.
It is unlikely to be a fertilisation problem, as many varieties that are grown are all female ones, and if they should be fertilised develop a bitter taste.
