How do you protect your carpets?

What do you do in your house to help protect your carpets.

Answers:
My house everyone takes their shoes off at the door. We always just walk around in socks or slippers which really helps keep the floors and carpets cleaner. I also make all my friends take their shoes off when they come over too.

I personally don't do anything to protect my carpets, carpets are made to be walked on. The only thing I do is vacuum it to keep it clean.
Besides the logical things like not tracking things in on them, the best thing you can do is vacuum every day because it helps keep things from being matted into the carpet and aging it.
Everyone, even my 90 year old great grandmother takes their shoes off at the door in the foyer. Carpet is to expensive to have to try to keep clean and replace. Also no eating in carpetted areas only on the wood floors and tiled floors
hahah....don't have kids..lol
We have kids, and pets...we pretty much just vacuum and keep food off of it...
scotchgaurd and no shoes on the carpet
Take your shoes off at the door, and keep food and drinks in the kitchen. Vaccuum regularly and professionally clean as every or so.
