Are "bug bombs" really safe?

Supposedly you can put one in your house and leave for an hour and then come back and you won't have bugs for 6 months...anyone know if they work or if they are safe??

Answers:
that stuff is a pain in the *** you have to cover everything and use combat bait traps they work well

If you have to leave, I would question how safe they are. I know that you would need to make sure all food is covered or remove the foods and re-wash all dishes.

I had to bomb my house for fleas and it worked pretty well. You do have to treat the animal as well though. Make sure to get the one that kills the eggs. As far as safety, I didn't encounter any ill effects afterward, but it may be good for you to wash/clean everything down.
If you leave your poilet light on, it will blow up like a bomb. There have been a number of incendents like this in the state of GA.
