I wouldn't see the point in having a pad if it's a memory foam bed, but whatever floats your boat.
If you got one experiment
not really because you wouldn't be getting full benefit from your matress as it wouldn't be able to mould to your shape properly
there's no point. you won't sink into the foam if there's something between you and it.
