Seal the hole where they get in and out and eventually the problem will solve itself.
Try putting scented (any scent) dryer sheets up there. It worked in my rental house (even though nobody was living there at the time). I don't know why it works but it does!
Seal the hole with wire scrubbing pads. They can't chew through them.
u can use a pellet gun or a b b gun and kill them or some firecrackers will do.
Sometimes loud music and lights work...but you must seal the hole. but trapping my have to be done.
I would try to smoke them out then seal off the entrance with a screen or caulk.
Put a radio up there and blast loud raucous music. They will leave in short order.
