The method that has always worked for me and is environmentally friendly is to pour some cooking oil in the water, it suffocates the larvae.
Some cooking oil,they can't breath if they can't get to the surface,the oil stays on top and their "mouths" won't go through the oil,there are commercial pellets that kill them too but oils clean up better and wont harm the pool
Pour mineral oil on the water. It will suffocate the larvae as their breathing tubes can't penetrate the oil.
