will mothballs repel snakes?

I have heard that they do.I live in the country & put them around my house & I havent seen any since I started doing it.

Living in a rural setting with plenty of snakes, I have discovered that mothballs have little or no effect on snakes. The only effective repellent as long as used in this manner: cover the ground with a 12" wide border of liberally sprinkled sulphur powder (commercially this is known as Snake-Away.) You have to be sure you have no snakes ON the property because it will trap them in. The sulphur is caustic to snake skin, hence the repellent character. Once it rains on the sulphur powder, you must reapply to maintain effectiveness

Yes, they do! I live on the outlet of a lake and the bank is covered with large rocks (a virtual haven for snakes). I have used moth balls in the past and they do work until it rains. What I use now is about 4 owl statues (any garden shop should carry these) at the top of the bank spaced about 10 feet apart. Have only seen 1 snake in 2 years I've used this method - and I think that snake was seriously lost.
