How do I get rid of those pesky ants in my house permantly?

I don't know about "permanently" but I can attest to the use of a simple household cleaner that does the trick for me. In fact, this trick has worked for all types of insects and does not cause any major problems.
I spray an ammonia-based cleaner around the outside of my doors and windows. I started doing this after I started "shooting" roaches with it about 20 years ago. From there, I started spraying it behind my fridge, stove, in the backs of cabinets, etc. I noticed that roaches, ants, etc., immediately went belly up and within a few minutes became ghosts.
This trick is something I repeat once a year and it seems to work just fine. I have small dogs, two parrots, and have had toddlers in the house in the years since I started using this. Through the test of time, I can find no reason not to use this trick. It is a lot cheaper and a lot safer than buying any of the canned insecticides.
Now if I can find a way to keep house flies on the OUTside of the house. :)

you can call an exterminator and have them spray for ants...but that won't get rid of them forever...you will have to have your hous apt/sprayed once a month or once every couple of months.
I hate those stupid things! Call pest control, keep all food items in the fridge or in containers, or if that doesn't work, let off a big bomb!
The best thing on the market that I have found is Grant's kills Ants. It is unreal. It is an ant trap and works real fast. A girlfriend of mine told me about it.
