No thats not weird roses are roses cheap or expensive as long as they look good, buy them. You don't give a person the price tag of the roses, you give the person the roses so the look of the roses are all that matters; not the price.

No why should that be weird. They are not the same quality as the florist. that is why they are cheap!! But flowers are overpriced.
I assume you think it weird they are so cheap at wal-mart & cost more at a florist? Weird has nothing to do with it. Try checking wal-mart prices for Roses during the holidays or Valentines Day.
Roses are pleantaful during summer months & can be had wholesale at a much lower rate then the totally greenhouse grown Roses during the winter season.
also, the florist does not have the buying power of wal-mart. he needs to feed his family on flower income only, thus a higher price. if the florist sold toys, clothes and tv's in addition to flowers, he could sell his Roses cheaper too. Maybe not as cheep as wal-mart, but cheaper then selling Roses alone.
That's why I don't shop at Wal-Mart, that 5.88 price tag on a doz. roses is outrageous. The small business flower shops can not compete at this price. Wal-Mart is killing a lot of small businesses. Wholesale price on roses for florists start at $12.00 a dozen for short stem, and go up from there for medium, long stem and premium and novelty roses. The recipient of these cheap roses will be disappointed if they don't last a few days and would not appreciate the beauty of roses and assume that roses do not last long. FYI, Florists sell mostly long stem roses and take proper care of their flowers and guarantee satisfaction.
