Keep the house as clean as possible!
Go to the drug store, or pharmacy and get some boric acid crystals. Spread them around the baseboards to all rooms. The roaches will travel in it and it will kill them eventually, when they go back to the nest....
It may take a couple of weeks, but, they WILL be gone!
I wish you well

If you live in a rental, then your landlord is obligated to call an exterminator, if you own, then you need to go to the store and buy roach bait, they could be called roach buttons or something like that. whatever you do, don't buy any type of roach spray. look on the active ingredient list and make sure the bait says it contains Hydramethylnon.
all you have to do is attach the roach buttons in the areas of your home where you have the roaches (e.g. inside kitchen cabinets, under sinks, any dark and damp place where they can feel the roof and floor)
anyways, the roaches will eat the bait and die, other roaches will eat dead roaches and dead roach feces, and so on
good luck
The surest way to get rid of roaches is cleanliness. By that I mean to remove all food-sources from them. You can spend thousands getting rid of them professionally or spend a week cleaning everything well. Do a wash of your entire kitchen by this I mean every surface (which is where they normally hang out) with a bleach solution (they hate bleach) wash walls, inside and outside cabinets, counters, stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, wash ALL of the dishes, mop the floor, wash the broom. I once heard that with one drop of grease a cockroach can live for weeks. Once you have thoroughly cleaned everything, make it a habit to keep it just as clean and never leave any trash indoors overnight. I use Clorox Bleach all purpose cleaner, for the initial cleaning you may need up to 4 bottles. One more thing, make sure all food items in the pantry are sealed tight.
Bengal Roach Spray is very effictive if you follow the directions on the can.
The real answer is a combination of cleaning up food residue and the boric acid method. Boric acid is very effective, but you must leave no food particles around for them to eat. If you live in an apartment, you are screwed because, unless all the other units do the same thing, the roaches will keep on coming.
