Getting rid of tree roots?
Answers: I would have an expert look at the problem. If you slaughter the roots the tree could die and then go down on your house. Also there are probabaly more roots you don't even see which could result in problems with a septic system.
What you hold to remember is- say the tree is 10metres soaring well the roots will span at lowest that distance from the base of the tree You could root prune on yous side of the boundary but surrounded by several years the roots will grow back near even more viggar
You'd probably be better off considering a hurdle of some sort because even if you do prune the roots, they will grow back. A four or five foot open channel jam-packed with reinforced concrete might be overkill but if you net that the footings of, say, a retaining wall or shed, it will assist.
There's one rule to remember though (as you're probably aware), in a skirmish between concrete and a tree, the tree always win! Eventually.
Best thing is to chop out the roots, after apply a chemical barrier. But keep hold of in mind, if you aren't fussy you will kill the tree and that may present it's own issues.
A better solution may be to contact and retribution an expert to deal beside these trees.
