where can i find someone to inspect the house that has been divided into apartments to see if it's safe to liv

We live in an apartment that is part of an old house. For some reason I feel that the house is not safe. I think there's mold and the structure is weak. We are paying 550/mo for this small apartment. Who can we get to come out and inspect this place bec I have a small baby who lives here too.

Answers:
Contact your local City Hall and ask them if they have a building inspector who does rental inspections. The only option that I can think of is having a building inspector come out and check the structure for you although you may have to pay for his/her services.

Call your local county building inspector. I did that on a rental property once.Look under your county listings and thats where youll find it.
An appraiser could do it, but they charge quite a bit... maybe code enforcement for your city? Tell them your concerns, and if they can't help you, they should be able to refer someone who can.
Try your local housing authority if you have one, or the one that serves your county. Rental properties that are subsidized by section 8 have to be inspected for health and safety, they may be able to help you. Good luck
