Is there a way to find out how old a pair of Levi 501s are ????

Contact the company through e-mail on their web site.
On the inside tag there should be a long serial number that should help with identification.

Count the rings around the crotch....lol.
On some clothing labels there is a code number on the back of the label. Sometimes it says RN number. (I was a textiles minor in college, I have a label with an RN number in the shirt I am wearing right now, I looked!)
If you have a number on the back of your jeans label, contact Levis via there customer service email addy and ask them if that number could be searched to indicate when the jeans were made.
