I have a 30 inch by 10 foot blow up top ring pool,1250 gallons, how much chlorine should I be putting in?

should I add algaecide to it? What other maintance do I need?

Answers:
To shock use 1 pound of granular chlorine per 10,000 gallons. You still must maintain pH and Total Alkalinity. Get a test kit and use it regularly. Just do what it says.

The best (and cheapest) thing to do is get a chlorine tablet floater. They usually have ducks, turtles etc on top to look cute and hold 3-4 3" tablets. There is a setting on the side to adjust how many gallons of water you've got. No algaecide needed as long as the chlorine levels are ok. Maybe some clarifier if the water gets cloudy (and don't overdo it! Too much gets cloudier than too little).

Don't worry about shock too much. Just double the chlorine dosage rate for a day after heavy rain or pool use.

A skimmer to get the leaves etc out would be good. For a pool that small and shallow don't waste money on a "real" one. Get the largest aquarium net you can find. It'll work better since the smaller holes catch and hold more junk (I've got a 8"x10" sitting by my pool<G>).

If you don't have a pool vac get a replacement shopvac hose and plastic floor nozzle to get the sand etc off the bottom of the pool. Just make sure you get a hose that will fit into the filter inlet on the side of your pool.

The pool guys hate those last two ideas! Really eats into their margins<Giggle>.
