What's the difference between thru the wall air conditioners and window air conditioners?
Answers:
the only difference would be in the construction invoved in the wall AC. I would put in the window one(s), and a couple of fans to circulate the air

I am an HVAC wife so I know a little. Well none of these are actual A/C units they are swamp coolers, basically. An actual A/c unit will either go on the side (or back) of your house or on your roof as a package unit. If you do go the "Room Airconditioner" or swamp cooler route I would suggest putting it in a window that way the mopisture will be released out side rather than in your house. You don't want your furniture getting damp. Anyway it probably is alot cheaper not to get a real A/C unit. I know they can be upwards to $7000.00 for the unit and installation.

you may need two a/C's.
thru the wall is a sturdier way to install them, the window units i refer to as window shakers and you need to put a brace under the back of them.
i only go with thru the wall.
a wall unit would work as long as it has room to breath the two you have would work check the btu the more the better and would save you money on power bill
The difference between through the wall and window AC units is primarily financial, aesthetic and noise. Through the wall units cost more, they look better from the outside and they let in less noise. Window units are inexpensive and they let in outside noise. A 5,000 BTU window unit made in China is now $89.
You will need a 24,000 BTU unit to cool 1100 square feet, but if you get one that large it will be really cold in the room it's in! Try breaking it up with 2 10-12,000 BTU units and everyone will be more comfortable.
