There is a book called"Backyard Problem Solver" by Jerry Baker that has many ways to have a great garden without chemicals and he uses things from around the house! For brown patches his recipe is 1 Tablsp Baking soda,1 tblsp instant tea,1 tablsp horticultural or dormant oil,and 1 gallon of warm water.Apply using a handheld sprayer and lightly spray the turf. He also has a recipe using molasses for yellow lawns to make them green. Best wishes!

I use Scott's turf builder. Once you put it on, make sure you water it real well. If you live in a hot area, it may be burnt or have cinch bugs.
