We have had tons of plain, non winged black ants this summer, and we've also had a rash of termites, despite the fact that our house has been treated numerous times over the past 10 years. My dad argues that black ants are the worst enemy of termites, and while I would like to believe him, I just find their appearances this year too coincidental. Who is right? Should I just deal with them or can I kill those pesky ants, eating away at our vegetation?

lowes sell a product called max force or call termanext they have a thing they put in the ground that draws them to it and trap them keep them from going in the house.
Wonderland.... There is no product currently on the market that "draws" or attracts termites. Bait stations, such as those used by Terminex or Sentricon rely on the fact that termites constantly forage for new food sources. The stations have plain wood pieces in them. When termites are found, then the tech places baited wood or paper in the stations. The workers take the poison back and eventually kill the colony.
Here in the south, fire ants, which are highly aggressive, really have no effect on termites. So, I doubt that black ants do either.
