Asbestos Abatement/Removal solid energy stories.?

We decided to convert our attached garage into a big eat-in kitchen. My husband started demo on the walls and discovered about a devout wall and half into it i.e. was asbestos!(the garage be added only just about 15 years ago according to the abstract and title company). Obviously concerned, we contacted a local contractor about how to properly remove and dispose of it. The contractor said that it would cost upwards of $3000 to own him come out, remove and dispose it. Or, we could wear masks, spray the asbestos boards beside water to hold the dust down and triple bag it. We remunerated $175 to our local landfill to "dispose" of it from there.
When if truth be told tearing it out, it broke bad in sort of good sized chunks and individual took about a total of 8 hours (over 2 days) to crack it down.

bah! a local contractor i walked into during a most important factory remoldeling told me its nothing! he walk right thru the entire building full of asbestus dust every day for weeks! He said to me Bah...it hasnt done me no impair at all! My guys dont even wear a masquerade!,,,(little does he know it takes 20-30 years to develope cancer or lung diseases from it)
