Problems with mice!?

Can anyone please help me with my ongoing problems with mice?
My house is very upkept and we do not leave food laying out anywhere yet we still have mice! On almost all of my shelves, even in my closet on the top shelve, there are traces of mice poop. Can someone please help me out with some good advise?????

You need to find out where they are getting in and seal the hole. Put down decon and traps if you don't have any other pets. If you can find holes in the corners in your house you can seal them with steel wool. It takes a lot of detective work, but it's worth it. We have had problems every year and I finally found a hole in our foundation. I sealed it up and we haven't had any mice so far this year.

Good Luck!

although it may sound mean, traps work very well. They spread disease so work quickly so your family doesn't get sick. Peanut butter on a cracker as bait works wonderfully. Good luck
try stuffing any open holes with stello wool, eg. under sink pipe fittings and behind oven. They don't like it and can't chew thro it good luck
well you could buy a cat and let the cat kill the mice or you can get some rat dope to kill them but make sure that kids and pets stay away from the dope or they can become poisened and/or die.
Well, you should consider getting an exterminator because they can come from pipes, or holes in the wall. They don't always have to have food scraps to come around. They will chew on anything. Try to keep the house smelling fresh because studies I did for a report last semester show that mice don't like fresh smells. They like to be in stuffy areas because they are used to the sewer climate. Hope this Helps!!!!!!
I had the same problem. I bought mouse bait and put it out. The most effective are bait blocks that are either yellow or green in color. You can tell when they are taking the bait because it gets gnawed off and it's obvious. it does not smell and you put it where you see the poop. Anther good place is in your attic and I throw them like a baseball way back in the corners and places I don't want to Crawl to.. You can use traps but then you have to dispose of them dead mice yourself and that's no fun. the mice chew on those bait blocks and then go off for water and that's when they die, If you have kids put it up where they can't crawl and chew on the block. if you follow the instructions you will be fine. Any hardware store will have the bait blocks. Mice are not there because of you being sloppy and even if you are an immaculate house keeper they don't know it. The traps tend to catch you more then the mice and dang that hurts. Live traps for a catch and release program is kind of dumb because you catch them and let them go and they come back or annoy someone else. Trust me the bait blocks are the way to go.
Good Luck!!
Trapping is your best solution. Don't use baits! If the mice eat the bait, then die in the wall voids, you will have to put up with the awful stench of their deterriorating carcasses.

First, you need to find out how the mice are getting in. Walk around the outside of your house and look for any holes 1/4-inch in diameter or larger. Look high and low, because mice are good climbers. Seal up the holes so that no more mice can get in, then put your trapping plan into place.

Mice are very cautious animals. So, it is sometimes better to leave the traps out un-baited and un-set for two or three days so that the mice can get used to them. Then bait and set the traps. Don't use cheese. The notion that mice like cheese only works in the cartoons. Use peanut butter or Slim Jims. Check the traps everyday, and remove the dead mice/replace the traps. Once you've gone a few days with no activity, you'll know that you've beaten the problem.
