what kind of flying bug is black and yellow and the size of a bee but looks like a hummingbird?

I found it sucking on my lilac bush, I thought it was some sort of bee but it had a long beak for sucking and its wings moved like a hummingbird.

Answers:

probably some insect in the sphynx family. My vote would be for a nessus sphynx, as they're pretty common. Another common possibility is a hummingbird clearwing moth. If you want, there are pictures you can choose from in the source below (they're kind of interspersed with the other sphynx pictures):
Sophia is right, it is a hummingbird moth. We get them here all the time, they love our butterfly bushes.
