Are we supposed to cut the ends of the stems of a sampaguita after the flowers dribble rotten?...?

Sampaguita or jasminum sambac (i think) are wonderfull specimens. Their flowers, after blooming, fall off in 24 hours. My problem is that I don't know if I need to cut the ends where the flowers fell past its sell-by date. Because now, my plant looks as if it is dead. So...anyone know what I should do?...thnx!...=D
