Can lilac bushes grow economically contained by the SE Texas, Houston nouns?

I grew up in New York and lilac bushes grew everywhere...Can LILAC BUSHES grow well within Houston...
any tips on what TO DO and WHAT NOT TO DO..
lastly, I don't exactly have the best talent at growing plants...

Answers:    They won't grow in Atlanta, and Houston is even further south, so I'm saw no, you won't have good luck. It's merely to dang hot, and they can't take it.
