Can populace drink feeder corn? I be determined what's the difference between corn grown for cattle and regular corn?

I know when we were kids my dad and I would jump out to some fields and pick a couple bushel baskets of corn and bring it home for the family! I subsequent found out (like 20 yrs later) that it was cow corn.and because we didn't have much money thats why he did this! My dad allways said that at a dependable time , that the corn was kind of sweet and tender adequate to eat. But when that is I do not know!!
