How do you trim rose bushes?

Roses are quite hardy. In the spring you can trim them of late about any opening you want. To minimize the chances for mold remove the center branches completely so the breeze can relief keep the leaves from staying drizzly for too long. Trim the rest of it to the desired height. Whenever a flower is done I trim that branch (or remove it if needed) to the plane I want. Every 5 years in the spring I cut mine down at the ground (saw it at ground level) and permit it start over again. After 5 years of trimming the base starts to look pretty monstrous and this is why I start over.
