Venus Flytrap examine..what can I use for a terrarium, what other plants should I put beside it?
Answers: I am currently growing a few Venus Fly Traps from seed contained by a terrarium. I need to put up some different photos, but here are some photos of the seeds and what they looked similar to right after they germinated:

Let me answer your question:
You can grow Sarracenia (pitcher plants) or Drosera (sundews) with Venus Fly Traps pretty easily. Just do a flush for them on the web. I currently hold quite a few sarracenia and Drosera capensis and Drosera intermedia.
Drainage isn't that earth-shattering, but you don't want them to be sitting in dampen.
For soil, be sure to use only peat moss or long fibered sphagnum moss. You can find it at any nursery or Home Depot, Lowes, or Wal-Mart. Read more in the region of soil here:

You don't absolutely have need of a special light. A regular fluorescent bulb will work if you are on a budget. Look for soft white desk light compact fluorescent bulbs. However, fluorescent light specifically made for growing plants will work better. You can usually find them at your local nursery as all right.
The light doesn't necessitate to be on all the time. I own a photoperiod of 16 hours set up for my seeds. They germinate in roughly 3 weeks. I have see people use anything from 14 to 17 hours of fluffy per day.
I hope that answers your question. Good luck with your Venus fly traps and other carnivorous plants!
