I have a more or less large wasp nest lower than my bird feeder, it has be up there for adjectives of last year, and after when winter came, and after thawed, i don't see any wasps flying around, is it undisruptive to take down?? i shook the birdhouse, and zilch came out attacking me... do wasps return to the nest after winter?
Answers: wasps dont live out the winter. the queen leaves ,,thats it. its a late nest.
Wasps don't leave. They're probably still hibernate. Carefully take it down and put it surrounded by a plastic bag.EDIT--I once sent a wasp nest to the institution, in the spring--thought it would be interesting. Well, it be. After several hours, when they warmed up, they come out! The school have to be evacuated.
