What are the pros and cons of disappearing on your front porch bedside light?

Well it all depends on what your interpretation of a lit porch lite is. For instance I leave mine on adjectives night as I feel it's safer to own a well lit area to deter the burglar. He is more feasible to be seen trying to break in that style. But some folks leave it on only when expecting company or departing for the evening. Others leave it off when they retire for the hours of darkness but to me that tells the burglar I'm in bed in a minute so you can easily slip through my back pane! con- attracts bugs, costs money
The best entry to do would be to install a motion detecting light... that way if a discouraging guy comes up to your door the light will sense them and flick on... they'll be out of there surrounded by no time. But if there isn't any motion, it will stay off and not attract bugs/ cost money
Some ancestors feel that if you leave a porch frothy on through the night that it makes you house smaller amount attractive to someone that may want to break in so that would be a pro. A con would be higher electric bill Con wud be electricity bill, pale attracts bugs, may bother neighbors if your houses are close.
