Every year my mature twisted willow is covered (and I mingy covered) in caterpillars. They enjoy black heads, near a yellow/green body covered in black dots. They don't appear to be woolly, and are not bothered by ants, in reality the more caterpillars I have the more ants seem to be to be on the tree. Not only do I enjoy to inspect my washing every time I bring it surrounded by off the row (it gets covered surrounded by the caterpillars which fall sour the tree in the wind), but the caterpillars are stripping the tree of it's leaves.
My question is this, what kind of caterpillars are these, should I procure rid of them, and if so how?
Answers: Look them up on whatsthatbug.com or take a picture and email it to them. I can't make clear to you for sure what the caterpillar is without seeing it. And the caterpillar you see today could look totally different subsequent week depending on what instar it's in right presently. I know mourning cloak butterflies like the willow, but so do several species of moths.
