What benevolent of red ants are greatly small but not agressive?

I have extremely small (no more than 1/8" long) red ants that come out of an outlet in my living room. They travel contained by distinct trails down the wall and onto the floor where they swarm by the hundreds. There has be nothing spilled in this nouns & it's blocked off by furniture. They don't bite and don't seem to be hugely aggressive no matter how much you disturb their spot which makes me have a sneaking suspicion that they are not Red Imported Fire Ants. I had one on my arm and it didn't bite; they just sort of put your foot around checking things out. Any thoughts what they might be?

Answers:    Ants can not be killed with cinnamon/sugar. Ants do not put away solid food. Ants can not eat solid food. Kim G has be spreading that rumor for a long time.

Here's the most likely to least plausible species of ants you could have.

Pharoah Ant
Little Black Ant

...actually that's adjectives I can think of.

You really should get rid of them back they swarm or bud. Then you'll really have a mess on your hands.

Don't bother beside the following, though:
Grants Ant Stakes (super-poisonous to mammals)
Bay Leaves
Cinnamon
Mint
Grits
Cream Of Wheat

Good luck to you. Sounds like it could be worse. =)
Just kill them. Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle it here and near. The ants will come and pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it pay for to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die lacking her.
