Answers: Diatomite - It is fossilized diatoms. It can probably be found at a garden shop or a lapidary supply. It is a course abrasive stuff that scores the carapaces of ants that way of walking into it causing them to lose body fluids and die.
It be more automatic to collect some anteater's urine and use sparingly. Or no water no ants.
