What is cheaper next to the upper air conditioning on: kerosene lamp or sunlight?

I have no clue how much electricity costs, except our bill get high within the summer months. I need to use a bedside light of some sort to work at my desk.

I can have the blinds closed and hold the room dark and use a hurricane lantern to save electricity
OR
I can enjoy the blinds open and receive sunlight and not use the oil lamp.

Which is more economically efficient and why? Thanks!

Answers:    The answer depends on the following things:

- Are the window that the light is shining through thermally insulated (double or triple pane)?

- What is the wattage of the bulb you are using contained by the lamp and is it incandescent or fluorescent?

A low wattage - large efficiency bulb may use smaller quantity electricity than the extra air conditioning needed to remove steam allowed in from an unshaded glass.
I'll go near lunatic on this one, but I'll also suggest and using either a small desk adherent or a ceiling light adherent rather that nouns conditioning.
