What is the best route to nick protection of a Christmas cactus surrounded by the summer?

Anyone have some tips to keep it alive and economically until it blooms beautiuflly again in the winter time? Thank you

Answers:    Place it outside and forget about it until it is time to bring it within again. If bits break off stick them in another pot and they will root, giving you more plants. Pick out any late or broken bits of the plant to make it presentable before you bring it contained by. start feeding it (I use weak Baby Bio) and it will reward you next to its lovely flowers. You can pot them on and propagate them easily. Then you can give them as gifts to friends.
I hold a Christmas Cactus that belonged to my late grandmother, it is approx. 45 years old. I put it out on my deck surrounded by the summer and it goes crazy. When I'm ready to bring it surrounded by at the end of the season, I clean it up, spray it next to bug killer and fertilize with Miracle Grow.
