What kill fox tail weed?
i think i have the right label for the weed?,it is a lime green weed with stem and loads of needle similar to things growing off the stem and has a long thump root wich makes it difficult to dig up
Answers: It's almost impossible to eliminate. The roots can go down 4 feet or so, and the tough leaves resist the infiltration of pesticides very well. Horsetails prefer poor soil, so rising your soil quality by adding lots of horse fertilizer and cultivating the ground will help. The best thing is to hold on to pulling them up. They will regrow, but eventually it will weaken them. If they're in the grassland, mow regularly.
Glyphosate (Roundup) will also weaken them, but it's best to strim them down first, as the weedkiller can penetrate the cut stems better. Again, they will regrow, but repeated applications will eventually force them into submission.
Not an flowing one this as mares tail is a very hard weed to eradicate.
The leaves of this plant are waxy so the weedkiller does not stick to them, you need to bruise them first. Either walk on them or thrash them with a thin twig surrounded by order to break the stem.
Now when you apply the weedkiller it will get into the plants system and hopefully snuff out it for you. It will require more than one application though.
Use a Glyphosate based product as this will biodegrade on contact with the soil and not degrade it.
You can replant after 4 weeks. If you would rather not pour the weedkiller onto the plant you can sponge it on but still bruise the plant.
Hope this is of help
single way I know is to cover the ground with black plastic for in the order of 7.yes seven years. Its very very vastly hard to get rid of it. is it not horsetail?...I hold it too...it has been around a markedly long time apparently..
