My wife and I bought a new dishwasher from Home D***t and it was deliver today. The problem is they did not install it because they claimed the on/off water valve/fixture was the wrong type. Rather than your typical on/off spout that you turn left or right to turn the water on and sour, the fixture is a pull type -- push the knob is for water, verbs it out to shut it off. What type and what is the name of this on/off hose valve fixture? Also, is this typically threaded or a compression type fitting?
Answers: It is a push/pull gate stopcock. As compared to the turn type valves, it is usually either on or rotten and nothing in between. Turn types come within these gate valve near a quarter turn between on & off. Depending on the dishwasher you purchased the incoming water file will either be a 3/8" or 1/2" NPT fitting.
