When onions are planted?
I have an onion contained by the cabinet wheich is growing leaves. Can I plant it and will it grow?
Do they grow like potatos and root out making more onions?
Answers: yes you can plant the onion. no, they dont spread. i hold grown onion for 19 years. go to a greenhouse or nursury to by PLANTS. you will bring back around 75 to a bunch. where i live within the south i buy them for about 1dollar a bunch. i plant mine within late december or rash january, whenever they start to be sold. they take in the order of 3-4 months to grow. they can handle the cold down to in the order of 20 degrees. colder than that and the tops die bad, but grow right back. you obligation to get them contained by while it is still cold. the heat will do them contained by if you try it in the summer. i pulled up adjectives my onions just end week.
Well you could try that, but its best really to plant the onion from seed.
If you know of anyone who raise onions, and the tops turn into a big white flower,,,,,then dry em' a black core will fall out. Plant that tiny black nut. It will grow. I just started mine yesterday surrounded by a shallow plastic tray, and when they come up about 4" or so I will transplant them out into our huge garden space...
I prefer to start my plants first ,,, by using smaller planters, and get some potting soil, approaching for house plants,,,,and set them outside,,,near the sun,,,,and marine them about every other time at first... tomorrow we are setting out the peas, and cuckumbers.. then after that on the onions.
I hope you have honest success.
You can probably jump into "gurnies.com" or something like that,,,,and they hold a catalog of stuff, and often times they put adjectives the "how to's" of gardening in within.
Good Luck.
