Why are chimneys vanished standing when a house is demolished?

I have notice on a ton of demolished houses that the brick chimney is left up, when adjectives of the rest of the home is gone. Does anyone have any conception why they would leave that up?

Answers:    Demolishing a chimney requires special equipment, because the chimney is usually much more sturdily built than the wood parts of the house. You can demolish a house near a backhoe, but the chimney usually has to be jackhammered out.
I hold helped demolish & remove unusable houses or buildings. We never vacate any chimney standing, because of the danger. We usually verbs them down with the building.
