Why are the bottom leaves on my tomato plants turning brown & dying?

First they turned yellow & then they turn brown. Will this generate the plant die too?

Answers:    There could be so many reasons. Too much hose down, or not enough water next to too much sun. (I'm sure there's virus and stuff too)

I had a catnip plant turn brown because of being overwatered.

My tomato plants leaves be starting to turn brown because of too much sun and not enough water.

If the soil is try, try watering it on a day after day basis and see if it perks up. If you surmise you might be overwatering it... stop.
Oh that's nothing to worry roughly speaking it is common for tomato plant bottoms to do so, I really don't know how but it's normal for t to develop so ya. it could be that the bottom was getting more water since it is on the bottom and hose may splash alot onto the leaves.

All the time this happens but my tomato's never die just the leaves. =()
As your plant ripens vivacity from the lower leaves is used for the fruit The upper leaves that are nearer the sun shade all below. The lower leaves have done their employment and die. Keep you eye open for tomato eating insects, however. No, thats what happen. Its sitting closest to and on the ground so its getting a lot of moisture which inturn kills it...its typical and dont worry about it.
i other thought they were supposed to do that, and then regrow and the prehistoric ones die off??
